FAQ: Will Seachem Reef Builder™ affect my pH, alkalinity (KH), calcium, magnesium, or any other major water parameter?

Reef Builder™ is designed to raise the alkalinity and pH of the system, so these two parameters will definitely change when you add it to a system.  It also includes calcium and magnesium to offset the drop in these minerals as a a result of raising the alkalinity.  The rise in calcium and magnesium levels is typically not noticeable on a standard water test, but over time you may notice that you don't need to supplement as much to keep up with the needs fo your aquarium.

Raising alkalinity too much can also deplete calcium levels despite the inclusion of calcium in the product.  We recommend keeping alkalinity to a moderate level if you are having trouble with maintaining proper levels of calcium.
