FAQ: Can I use Seachem PhosGuard™ in a tank where I'm keeping ______?

PhosGuard™ absorbs phosphate, and while fish are more-or-less ambivalent about phosphate levels, plants and corals are not.  Corals require phosphate levels below 0.2 mg/L in order to be healthy, while plants require phosphate levels between about 0.25-1 mg/l in order to live and grow.  If you are keeping a coral tank, phosphate absorbers are highly recommended for the sake of coral health, while if you are keeping a planted tank, phosphate absorbers are not recommended as they absorb an essential nutrient of plants.
