It is entirely possible to overdose activated filter carbon in the aquarium, and MatrixCarbon™ is no exception. Activated filter carbon leaches phosphate into the aquarium (this applies to all activated carbons - see FAQ), and eventually a large enough overdose of Activated Filter Carbon will leach so much phosphate that it can cause issues phosphate-sensitive systems. In addition, while MatrixCarbon™ is designed to minimize the impact of the media on trace elements, minimal impact is not the same thing as no impact. A massive overdose of MatrixCarbon™ can start to reduce the amount of trace elements in the aquarium.
