FAQ: Can I use Seachem Reef Iodide™ on things that are not a Reef aquarium?

Reef Iodide™ hasn't been FDA approved for use in the production of food for humans or terrestrial animals, and we haven't tested it in applications outside of the reef aquarium. We will not be able to speculate on how Reef Iodide™ will work in non-aquarium applications for this very reason.

With regards to using Reef Iodide™ on freshwater aquariums, most trace element supplements contain sufficient iodide for the maintenance of freshwater tank inhabitants.  While the form of iodide in Reef Iodide™ should not be harmful to freshwater tank inhabitants if dosed according to their needs, we do not have dosing recommendations for this application of the product. If dosing iodide for the maintenance of freshwater shrimp, we recommend shrimp exo™ from the aquavitro® line.
