FAQ: Will Seachem Reef Calcium™ affect my alkalinity, pH, magnesium, or other major water parameters?

Reef Calcium™ exclusively increases calcium, and does not contain components intended to alter other water parameters.  However, keep in mind that saltwater parameters are maintained in careful balance with each other.  Altering any one parameter too drastically or too suddenly can throw other parameters out of balance.  In the case of Reef Calcium™, dramatically increasing the calcium can cause carbonate precipitation, leading to decreased alkalinity and pH.
