We very strongly recommend to use a test kit to ensure your copper is within the proper range for your tank type (0.25 mg/L for freshwater and 0.5 for saltwater). We also recommend against maintaining copper levels at treatment concentrations in the long term (past the standard treatment period) in the hobbyist aquarium. Many retail stores maintain low copper levels in their quarantine aquariums for an extended period to prevent the spread of parasites, but this method is not recommended for long-term maintenance of fish, as it will become very stressful over time to permanent residents of the aquarium.
