Reef Advantage Magnesium™ hasn't been FDA approved for use in the production of food for humans or terrestrial animals, and we haven't tested it in applications outside of the aquarium environment. We will not be able to speculate on how Reef Advantage Magnesium™ will work in non-aquarium applications for this very reason.
With regards to using reef products on freshwater aquariums, there is nothing about the formulation of Reef Advantage Magnesium™ that makes it inherently unsuitable for freshwater environments (the form of magnesium in this supplement is nontoxic to freshwater creatures.) However, Reef Advantage Magnesium™ was not designed or intended to be used in anything except ornamental saltwater aquariums, and so we do not have detailed information regarding the use of this product in freshwater or brackish tanks.
