FAQ: Can I use Seachem Tanganyika Buffer™ in a tank where I'm keeping ______?

Possibly.  Tanganyika Buffer™ is exclusively intended for freshwater cichlid tanks and not every type of aquarium fish is suited to the high-pH environment which Tanganyika Buffer™ can be used to create. Research your fish to know what pH they would prefer.  Additionally, many fish, plants, and invertebrates are stressed by sudden high-percentage water changes and shifts in water parameters.  We recommend to alter pH slowly and keep water changes to 30% of the tank or less. More sensitive tank inhabitants will do better with smaller, more frequent water changes and slower alterations of water parameters.

Tanganyika Buffer™ creates a pH that is too high for most, if not all, aquarium plants.  We do not recommend using it in planted tanks.
