FAQ: Can I use Seachem Gold Trace™ in a tank where I'm keeping ______?

Possibly.  Gold Trace™ is exclusively intended for freshwater tanks and formulated for the needs of goldfish. Additionally, many fish, plants, and invertebrates are stressed by sudden high-percentage water changes and shifts in water parameters.  We recommend to follow the dosing instructions and keep water changes to 30% of the tank or less. More sensitive tank inhabitants will do better with smaller, more frequent water changes and slower alterations of water parameters.

A note about copper:

Gold Trace™ does contain copper, as this and other trace elements are absolutely necessary for the health of fish and invertebrates.  Like all trace elements, copper can become stressful if a high enough amount is built up in the system.  However, the amount of copper included in Gold Trace™ and other trace element supplements is so low that a gross overdose of many times the recommended amount all at once is necessary to stress invertebrates like shrimp and snails.  Under any reasonable circumstances of use, Gold Trace™ is incapable of posing a danger of copper or other trace element toxicity to aquarium inhabitants.
