It certainly is. An overdose of Alkaline Regulator™ can result in a sudden and stressful shift in pH, and can cause significant phosphate precipitation. If pH of the water is still too low despite repeated additions of a buffer like Alkaline Regulator™, it is likely that there is a high concentration of acid sources in the aquarium that are preventing the pH from rising. We recommend to dilute the acid sources through regular water changes so that the Alkaline Regulator™ will be more effective at controlling the pH.
