Info: Seachem MetroPlex™ Dosing Instructions

Dosing in Water

Remove all invertebrates - these are extremely sensitive to medication. Turn off UV filters, ozone filters, and remove chemical filtration like MatrixCarbon™ and Purigen™. Use 1-2 measures (included) per every 40 L (10 US gallons). Repeat this dose every 48 hours for up to 3 weeks or until symptoms disappear.

Dosing in Food

Feed the medicated food mix (recipe below) every day until the infection clears or up to 3 weeks. This medicated food can be refrigerated or frozen between feedings.

  • 1 scoop MetroPlex™
  • 1 scoop Focus™
  • 1 tbsp food (preferably pellets or frozen food)
  • A few drops of water if using a dry food

To enhance palatability use with GarlicGuard™ or Entice™.

After Treating

When the treatment period is over, MetroPlex™ can easily be removed using activated filter carbon like MatrixCarbon™. It does not linger in the substrate or filter media of the tank.

Hi, I feel almost silly asking this, but if combining metroplex with food using focus, I don't have to worry about carbon removing the medication because it is bound to the food and never passes through the carbon filter, correct?

    Hi Cannonball!

You're right - that's one of the benefits of dosing MetroPlex with the food; you can use it with any kind of filtration without needing to worry that the filtration will remove the medication from the tank.

Hi there, Is it possible to dose metroplex in food without using focus?

Hi Hein!  It's possible to dose MetroPlex without using Focus if you are using a very porous food that absorbs moisture (like a dry pellet food or gel food).  When the MetroPlex is mixed with a bit of water or GarlicGuard, this allows the food to absorb the medication so that none is lost in the water.  For frozen foods or pellet foods that do not absorb much moisture, it is preferred to use Focus.

1 table spoon food is 15 grams ? or 1 tb spoon size ? this is confusing , as my pellets  are really small and 1 tb spoon is alot of pellets

Hi Maelstomzer!  Yep- a tablespoon is typically about 15 grams, and is enough food to feed a large number of fish.  This recipe is based on the medication scoop size, not on the amount would be reasonable to feed to a single fish.  You can refrigerate or freeze any medicated food that you do not feed immediately!
